In 2019 I am committing to watching more talks that are not in English. This one is in French, and I watched it with subtitles.
- The speaker draws us in effectively with a story. It introduces her research thematically, but by using an everyday example that we can connect with immediately.
- She uses a short audio clip to directly bring in another voice, in another language. I see lots of speakers using video but actually, a short, well-chosen audio clip can also be highly illustrative.
- Well-paced, with good use of pauses to let points resonate, and to allow the audience space to answer rhetorical questions in their own minds.
